Our Team
Michael Sockalingham
Having graduated in 2000 from the University of Glasgow with commendation, Michael worked in Glasgow up to 2008, when he arrived at Moodiesburn Dental Care.
Following a revamp of the practice in 2009, with an all new interior and equipment, Michael was an early adopter of digital dentistry with digital x rays and an CEREC CAD/CAM same day porcelain treatments.
He passed some postgraduate examinations in 2014/15 to become a member of a couple of royal colleges of dentistry and has always exceeded his continuing professional development requirements.
In 2022 he acquired the latest generation CEREC technology to ensure his favourite passion in dentistry wants for nothing.
Outside of dentistry he is married with two children, and has his decades old interest in motorsport, browsing scrapyards , always on the look out for rare and hard to find parts for the various rusty (and not so rusty) projects that seem to always be close to completion…

Martin Laird
Associate
Martin is a 2020 graduate of the University of Glasgow and has thoroughly enjoyed the process of engaging will all aspects of general dentistry. He particularly enjoys dentistry as a subspecialty of the wider medical profession and helping patients with not just their oral health but their general health and wellbeing. He loves putting patients at ease and prides himself on being approachable . Outside work he enjoys spending time with his fiancé , model making and a round of golf .
Collette Dunn
Practice Manager
Collette is the practice manager at Moodiesburn Dental care and has been with the practice for five years. she is here to ensure a smooth running practice and support for both staff and patients. She started in dentistry when she was 16, so has seen tremendous changes throughout the years.
Outwith working hours Collette enjoys socialising with friends and family.
Stevie Waddell
Dental Nurse
Stevie qualified in 2011 and has been with the practice since 2014. She worked in London for three years before returning to Glasgow. She enjoys spending quality time with her husband and children, going days away together and also enjoys socialising with her friends.
Ashley Codona
Dental Nurse
Ashley qualified as a dental nurse in 2017 and joined the practice in 2018. She enjoys her role as a dental nurse as she finds every day there is something different and enjoys working in a fast paced environment with a great team.
In her spare time she likes to go out walking and spending time with friends and family and enjoys traveling to new places.
Emma-Jane Neild
Dental Therapist
Emma-Jane is our dental therapist offering a wide range of treatments from stain removal to filling and treating our paediatric patients.
Her favourite part of her job is helping patients overcome their anxieties and working with children. Outside of dentistry she enjoys traveling, socialising and spending time with her family.
Katy McGhee
Receptionist
I joined Moodiesburn Dental Care in February 2023 . I previously worked as a lifeguard / receptionist in a waterpark. My favourite part about working in the practice is meeting and chatting with new people every day. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends and travelling to new places.
Joanne Burns
Receptionist
I have been a dental nurse for 20 years then decided to become a receptionist with Moodiesburn Dental Care in February 2023. I am really enjoying the reception rather than nursing in the surgery as you have more time to interact with the patients. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my two daughters , walking my dogs and exploring abandoned buildings.
Nicola McMillan
Dental Associate
Having graduated from Glasgow University in 2011 Nicola took part in an extra post graduate year in maxillofacial surgery and public sector dentistry before moving into general practice dentistry in 2013. Throughout her career to date she has taken part in out of hours dentistry, triaging patients from NHS24 and giving flu vaccines during the pandemic and representing her colleagues as chairperson of her local dental committee on top of her commitments to general practice.
Nicola enjoys a variety of aspects of dentistry, from simple restorations to root canal treatments and extractions. Making patients comfortable and getting to know her patients is something she takes delight in.
Outside of dentistry Nicola stays busy meeting with family and friends as well as chasing her toddler and chocolate Labrador.
Leonie Shields
Dental Nurse
After just qualifying as a dental nurse this year, I have been lucky enough to start working in this fast paced practice where I am learning new skills and getting to know my new colleagues and patients.
In my spare time I enjoy going out driving in my car and spending time with family and friends.

We aim to make it affordable for you to receive the dental care you want and need, so we accept a number of insurance and financing plans, and offer discounts for new patients. Because dental problems only get worse with time, it may be more difficult to afford not going to the dentist.
